UTC Students attend TEDx University of Bolton 2017

On Friday the 28th of April 2017, 4 UTC Students set out to attend the TEDx event at the University of Bolton. Joshua Glicklich, Joshwin Sundarraj, Mehran Asghar and Haydn Tang were given the opportunity to go and see the world leading and world recognised talks provided by the partner university.

“In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.”

TEDxUniversityofBolton, is student-led conference will bring together innovative thinkers from across the University of Bolton and larger community to explore ideas for our collective future.

The event’s theme ‘Innovate, Integrate, Educate’ encompasses a range of ideas and approaches, which represent some of TED’s core values of forward-thinking, innovation and inspiration.

The goal is to bring together bright minds to give talks that are idea-focused, and on a wide range of subjects, to foster learning, inspiration and wonder – and provoke conversations that matter.

The event was held at the Queens Specialist Building in Farnworth and it ran throughout the day. The morning started with talks from the Vice Chancellor Prof. George Holmes and Ph.D Student Patrick Uzuwe.

The talks allowed the students to interact with people from the industry and research as well as being able to gain ideas in understanding the world around them even more. The day was a great experience for each student and motivated each of them to find that success even more – to become greater academics and to live up to the ethos of being outstanding – everyone, everywhere and every time.

Overall, the event was a well-organised success which inspired and created optimism amongst the students through all of the talks. More on the event can be found at:
