At UTC Bolton, we understand the importance of providing a well-rounded education comprised of academic qualifications and essential life skills. It is for this reason that we strive to equip our students with basic healthcare training that they may need to use one day to potentially save a life. At the end of June, UTC Bolton we hosted a Level Two emergency first aid course. Students learnt how to assess a medical situation, treat patients using basic first aid, carry out CPR and use a defibrillator.

Year 12 Health and Social Care students also had the opportunity to meet Carren Bell, CEO of Lagan’s Foundation, and attend a talk focused on Surgical Stoma Tubes. The session allowed students to touch and feel the tubes to help understand how they work and what they should do is complications arise when using the tubes.
